Samuel Newman, of Portsea, was in partnership with the prisoner at the bar about six months; remembered being with him about two months before Christmas near the Battle of Minden, which house the prisoner said he should like to have; the witness said it would take a good deal of money to go into, but the prisoner said he expected to receive £300 or £400 shortly.

Samuel Newman is reporting a conversation that happened circa October 1828. It’s not clear whether the Battle of Minden is still in business or not, but “it would take a good deal of money to go into” suggests that it’s not yet a derelict building.
