I went to a talk years back where someone argued (I think successfully) that neoteny will apply to our intelligent machines, because market forces. Humans will preferentially buy goods and services that look and behave “cute”. One comparison I remember is Bratz dolls vs Barbie dolls (call it animefication?) but he had others.
Thought of that when I read this blog post about AI personality. The spam for AI girlfriend apps is all over casual mobile games right now, and I bet they’re not offering realistic adult women as characters.
