A FEMALE SWINDLER. — At the Bristol Police Court the other afternoon Sarah Westwood, a fashionably-dressed woman, was charged with swindling and robbing lodging-house-keepers. It was alleged that she went to the largest houses in the most respectable part of Clifton and procured lodgings, representing herself as a person of considerable means. She borrowed money of the unsuspecting landlords, and then decamped. Having succeeded in victimising three or four persons in this way she was heard of by the police and apprehended. In her pocket was found a ticket-of-leave, dated Woking Prison, in which she had been confined for five years for swindling. Subsequent convictions were proved against her under other names. She was remanded for further inquiries to be made as to the extent of her previous offences.
