One measly reference.

Ok, there are a couple of near misses for the Duncan’s Head that suggest we might be looking at an error:

Todo

Hypothetically, if the Duncan’s Head in 1852 is the unnamed public house on the corner of St. Nicholas Street and King William’s Place in 1860/1867 then it’s been renamed to the Rose and Crown by 1861/1874. I can discount this theory by finding pre-1852 references to the Rose and Crown.

Note

We also have a Rodney’s Head just a little further along the road on the 1861/1874 town plan

Definitely Copnor, then. Edward Piper in both locations. He was landlord over twenty years.
